I'm sure you're expecting a rapturous account of snow, skiing and the beauty of winter. While I do love the look of winter and the fun you can have doing all the winter activities my title is actually sarcastic in nature.
Last week we had the "joy" of having a supply line to our dishwasher crack and flood our kitchen. After finally getting the water off (after a frantic call to my husband at work...the shut-off valve was stuck) I had the fun of sucking water out of the carpet. (yes, there is carpet in the kitchen. Don't ask. We're renting)
Today the plumber came and replaced the supply line. But now I get to wait until Saturday to get dishwasher itself repaired. Apparently there is a cracked part on it. So I've been handwashing our dishes. This is where the dishwasher comes in handy. I've been putting the clean dishes on the racks to dry since I don't have an actual dish drainer to use.
Besides the dishwasher problems I also had a washing machine problem. While I was busily extracting water out of the carpet I noticed a large puddle of water by the washer. (it is in the kitchen area) My husband later determined it was a plugged drain (possibly some frozen water clogging it). It works fine now but I had a lot of extra work to do to get THAT water out of the carpet too.
All is well now and I can get back to actually enjoying the real joys of winter, like taking my kids sledding!

The Day I Met William Hung

It was a bitterly cold day when I set out to the mall to see William Hung. Having inside connections, I was able to meet him before he ever went out on stage. He is a sweet man who was quiet but more than willing to have his picture taken with me. Later I went to watch him perform. He had drawn a decent sized crowd plus a camera from one of the local news stations. He sang "She Bangs" and "Achy, Breaky Heart" and then went to a table to give out autographs. I snapped some photos of him singing and made my way home to share my triumph with my online friends.
